This week has been one of my most difficult but successful yet. I faced a few challenges this week as we finished learning the harmonies for the songs within act 2 of Rock of Ages. In particular, I faced a great deal of difficulty with one of the last numbers of the play: "Oh Sherrie". Due to the Teen version of Rock of Ages having certain changes to songs, mainly being that a lot of the songs are in a lower key, I have struggled quite a bit with a number of these songs as a result of it taking me a while to find the correct key to sing in, however none of these have I struggled more with than "Oh Sherrie". The final lines of the chorus in particular proved to be a great challenge for me and actually required me to spend a number of minutes at a time just listening to that small section of the song in order to find the correct notes for the key that the song is in. However, I was able to overcome this and on Friday I was able to sing the song fully in the correct key without the need to check beforehand. In addition to this, I have also properly started my exercises for my smart targets and they have helped to bring my overall performance of the songs to a higher standard. Especially my diction which I have been able to notice a vast improvement in compared earlier weeks of rehearsals.
